@Watermelon123 I get notifications on Tags but not Messages, I was getting too many of them so I shut that off a few years ago. I am so sorry sweetie, I cant wait to read an update on the others though!!

I just put in eggs yesterday. This will be my third time incubating. I'm extremely excited about this batch because it contains not only Black Copper Marans but also some olive eggers!! My olive eggers are from my beautiful Easter Egger hen, Bubbles, and my Blue Marans rooster, Jaxon. I can't wait to see what color they turn out to be! I also added in my eggs from my Cuckoo Marans, Barred Rock, and Rhode Island Red hens. The only roo I have is Jaxon so they're all mixed with him. I am interested to see how much darker the Barred Rock/Marans cross and Rhode Island Red/Marans crosses eggs will be once they start laying. Does anyone know? I can't wait for the next 21 days to pass! The picture is my Blue Marans roo and my Cuckoo Marans hen. I'm not all that familiar on Marans color genetics yet. What color will their offspring be?

It's about setting eggs so they'll hatch under a waxing moon in one of the fruitful signs of Pisces, Scorpio or Cancer.

Incubating W/ Friends Hatcher list

Birthdays: Chicken Hawk 33 7\18

Sally Sunshine
Always something!

1 blood ring
10 made to lock down
Of the 10, 9 were malpositioned
Ended up with 1 DIS, 1 died during zipping
(NOTE to self: 8\5 bday!!)

BantyChooks AKA Banti or Bubbles
53% hatch. Not setting again until next spring.

Chaos18 AKA Trouble or Chaos
Bators are off for now.

MotorcycleChick AKA MC or Abi
22 total Silver Pencil Rock eggs set 7/8 The girls are sharing a nest again, so they only have four. The other 18 are in the incubator. *Update* Of 18 eggs in the incubator, sixteen going strong. One looks infertile, and one looks like a blood ring.

kwhites634 AKA Whites, Whitey, Ken, Red Dog..... Just not late for supper
Update 5 hatched 7/2-3; tossed the other 7 (never developed or DIS)

daxigait AKA Dax or Daxi
Broody has eight eggs 6/24, but I don't know how many are fertile since my cockerels are young and only with the hens on the odd evening. Green egg layers CL over OE/BSL/BR/RIR.
*Update*
One more week for my broody, but it is supposed to be really hot (heat index today 107 for example). hatch 14/15

Jessimom AKA Kathy
I have 14 BCM that gotro17 had shipped, 4 legbars (I think were also shipped), along with I think 12 of my backyard chicken eggs - these are on day 10. And I set 28???? eggs 2 days ago. It's a mix of gotro17's backyard mix eggs, and mine. I'll do an accurate count if I ever candle them.

Mine are probably not all fertile, Since we pulled the roosters several weeks ago, and the baby roos were just starting to figure out how to play with the girls when they started to crow and got pulled.. I currently have a BEAUTIFUL Salmon Favorelle and 2 black silkie roos in my basement. Waiting until I figure out what we are going to do with them.

I also have 2 broodies sitting on eggs. Not sure how far along, or how many eggs. They both should be getting close though.

Pensmaster Known as Uncle Pen to some, Pensmaster to the rest
13 Altsterier eggs under broody. Started 6-24. Three candled yesterday when the hen got off for water all three growing beautifully. Surprised as they were abandoned a couple times and eggs were washed. Hen is still with the eggs. Due on Friday.

Update:
I have 12 more Altsterier eggs going under another broody tonight. Updated: Took the eggs back from the broody. Put them in the incubator. She had spread them in a three foot diameter circle. Not holding out hope in these.

mlm Mike AKA Mike or Mikemikemikemikemike
lau.gif

have a broody behind my buck feeder, I have no idea how long she has been there, or how many eggs she has.

The broody on icelandics and I had a disagreement on which eggs she should be setting on, so she got none, and I broke her.

casportpony AKA Kathy or Kat
Set a gazzilion pea eggs last night, so should see some chicks in 26-29 days from now. Also have another 12 or so due this month, I think, but I don't remember when I set them.

Hi everyone have 16 eggs in bator, Olive egger and blue birchan maran should be fun due the 26th.

Leave a LightOn

Update: One of six hatched yesterday, Day 20. Other five eggs rotten!

I will let the broody raise her so she won't be lonely. Mama raised a pair last year for 8 weeks. They were bigger than her!

danielkbrantley
Because you asked!

I got a dozen mutt eggs and 11 of 12 hatched out. The first hatched Thursday evening around 11:30 p.m. Three more hatched overnight. Another hatched in the morning while I let the big girls outta the coop, and the other six hatched throughout the day. They're now in the brooder and are painfully cute. My girls (human daughters) have been oohing and aahhhing all day.

I used a borrowed LG still air and bought an egg turner to make life easier. Kept it at 99-100 on my digital thermo and 101-102 on the (non-digital). Humidity first couple weeks was 45 or so, then let it drift down to 35 until late on day 18, when I amped up the humidity to 63-65%.

And I am still in shock that it worked so well and so...easily...

Thanks all for your help! If you scan through this thread long enough, you'll see how uninformed I was prior to this. Your help has been irreplaceable!

Thanks a million,

Daniel
