That's a good thing.

On day 4 it is possible to let them cool completely and save most.
If you lose power, just let them cool completely and quickly. Perhaps even in a refrigerator. Leave them in that state till power is restored.

Another option is if you are in a hot climate, just put the eggs out in an ambient temperature over 90F.


That is quite an article. Clearly explains why my silkies hatched even after the hen was taken by a varmint. Even though the hen was missing during a cold spell for some time

I just got done leg banding 14 chicks. I have 2 more zipping and 1 pip. Only 1 egg out of 18 doing nothing.
This is by far my best hatch rate in a Little Giant. Usually it is a chicken executioner.
 
I was watching a pip, and didn't see a zip. Darn little magicians! They keep doing that!
The zipper was out right after I said good night. I don't know if the other new chick is the pipper. I think that is twelve out now. Two dead (poor pancake chick). One egg unaccounted for, and five unhatched.
