If you chose to do the dry dog food put a small handful on the ground and then put the trap on top with the food behind the trip plate. It makes them dig for it the more movement they do they better the trap has to work. I used to tie a small cup inside. That's not needed.

I saw that in the "how to" video. I was bothered by the Havahart site not mentioning the destruction in the country. Just, "they get into your trash". I guess they assume we all sit around on the porch with a shotgun.
