I'm thinking of putting the thing in my closet, next to my AC unit, it keeps it dryer compared to the rest of the house. (might keep the kids out of it too) I was going to put it in my bathroom, so i'd turn the eggs everytime I went in there. but my bathroom is really humid. (I use my bathroom window for my garden starting plants. LOL)

The next choice, would be the kitchen... however, I can almost guarantee, that one of the kids would sneak in and screw with it if I had it in the kitchen. Decisions, decisions! LOL

I think my best choice, may be using a small sock of rice (I have baby socks around, so I'd probably be able to make it fit okay... especially if we only tried 4-5 eggs., to help get the humidity to around 30% until the end stage. After that, it wouldn't matter if it's 60-80% right?

Considering it's like a 65$ manual egg incubator, I'm guessing the fan on it would be iffy.
do you have a basement?

and yes about the bold stuff,

I wish. Our house is 2 story, but the upstairs is so hot, I didn't even need to use a heat lamp for our brooder, and had to have the AC on to keep it at 90-95 and then had to keep turning the AC up as they aged haha. (I live in Texas on the border.)

I don't know of any houses around here, with a basement though... so that's not unusual for where we live.

I pretty much have 4 choices. (My daughters room - which then runs the risk of her messing with the eggs, since she's 5 1/2, it would be VERY tempting.) my bathroom, my closet, or the kitchen counter. (which, my 12 year old would most likely then mess with the eggs, since he's tall enough to reach, and if you tell him not to do something, he pretty much is guaranteed to do it.)

Quote: dont matter, hens dont make full turns either lol but they turn at least 36 times a day and sometimes up to ninety something or other..... dont fret, turn when you can and you do fine. humidity could be an issue for you. how powerful is the fan in that thing? perhaps its small enough and the fan powerful enough to suck extra moisture out
You need the gray stuff....
No

i get what yer saying

do you have a dehumidifier?
No - we haven't invested in one (at least, not yet.) the humidity never really bothered us. I suppose down the road, I'd be willing to shell out the money for one, since my daughter is really obsessed with chickens if it turns out to be absolutely needed.
