Spent time in a vet rehabilitation yesterday with my Aunt..my Uncle Jim.. my Uncle Jim, her husband,  was heavily sedated.  He finally passed away last night.   If anyone here says a prayer or two here and there..say one for our family.   Thank you.

Oh, so sorry. I will be praying. :hugs

Are you kidding me? The ducks would hate me. Actually, they would rather stay outside, but that's beside the point. The coop's too small for goats, anyways. If I get goats, I would have to build a place for them, which wouldn't be too hard, but ...
and you are already convincing yourself lol

All my experiences with maggots have been in trash cans or compost bins.  Nasty pile of wriggling short fat white bugs.  These were long skinny worms.  Since it was an upper level shelf in a building, that has a concrete floor - I find it unlikely that they crawled there.

I just didn't want to deal with them on Monday - so now they have had time to hatch if they are fly larvae or possibly die off - but I'll tackle it this Saturday and see what I can find.

I had a dog named Fugly!

She is so pretty!!!!!

Sally - you make me want goats!!!!!  These are adorable!!!

OUCH!!  I'm glad that you only lost a couple of teeth - that could have been so much worse!!  I'm glad you are ok, and I hope you enjoy the rest of your day!

Thanks for the Rats photo Benny!   I took a relatively unwilling little girl to pick out 2 new pairs of glasses.  I rewarded her by letting her pick out a small toy - what did she choose?????   - a VERY realistic, squishy rubber RAT.  She left it on a couch in the living room - the next morning I came out, half asleep and saw it, and it didn't look like a toy......

We went to our first 4-H meeting on Tuesday.  It was interesting.  It is a VERY small group, less than 30 members.  The ONE person we wanted to talk to was not there.  There was a sign up sheet that said "Poultry".   We signed up - I'm waiting to hear from them.  The only only animal groups that were offered there, were Lamb to market and Guinea Pig raising.  I signed Jess up for 3 - Arts & Crafts, Cooking and Poultry.  Our local fair just ended this past weekend.  So, the meeting on Tuesday was the first meeting of their "new Year".  They took either first or second place in most of their entries this year.  It seems to be a good group of people.

I had a bunch of blue and green eggs from my chickens in the Brinsea.  I think they are due any day, so I locked them down yesterday.  Candling, I saw 2 that had drawn down.  I'm thinking they should start hatching tomorrow.  These will be the LAST eggs for quite awhile.  I now have no more adult roosters, and I"m getting rid of all the babies as soon as they crow.

Happy Hatching everyone!
that's a lot of people for a 4h meeting , or at least it would be around here lol

Have fun!!

Yuck, definitely not maggots then. I hate worms. Makes me practically barfy to see them. A few years ago my Maltese boy got fly strike, and not only did it scare the you know what out of me seeing those maggots pouring out of my poor baby's
behind, but thought I'd pass out before we got to the vet for help. My husband and I love to fish,so for some reason a plain old nightcrawler,I can handle, but when he first introduced me to mealworms, no way. Now I'm raising those little critters and fishing with them. That's it,though. I hope you get your worm dilemma solved and that there's no more incidents with them. I've been very fortunate with my birds,(chickens, ducks, quail, and up to a month ago, geese), & haven't had any mite or worm problems. Only a rat infestation last winter in the coup that got resolved by hiding poison so the chickens couldn't get to it and flat out going out there at night, pellet gun in hand and shooting them. Hoping not to have to deal with that again this winter either. Have a great day :)

I can't have any more animals! You know that if I build a shelter that will fit goats, goats will go in. I'm still going to do some research.   Pallet shelters don't look too hard to build.
Sometimes you can find places with big crates that things shipped in that can just be reinforced a bit too.

lol, yep pallets are easy to use
The right order is : an ox stuffed with a goat stuffed with turkey stuffed with a chicken stuffed with quail stuffed with a sparrow!
where's the duck??

Myself. I think. No, I already know that, so you guys!
