Thinking about collecting a clutch of giant splash cochin x svart hona eggs. I could get six I think. What do y'all think?
In my opinion eat the eggs, whay to hatch mixs?
Mix breed: you can eat them, or eat their eggs, enjoy their look
but you can't sell them!
In the other hand pure breed :
You can eat them, eat their eggs, enjoy their look,
and you can sell them in a good price!
So if I was you, I whould put, my efforts, electricity, feed, only in pure breed that have the potential to earn their keep, and even make me a profit!
That's what I did! But no one will buy the honas because they're too expensive. So I'm overflowing. I even got NPIP but it hasn't helped yet. When the roo hopped the fence into the layer coop, I just let him stay there.
My hona hen went broody and didn't lay for 8 weeks. But I wanted to hatch for educational purposes, and because mixed chicks do pretty well around here. The country folk just want eggs, any type, so a neat looking mutt is fine. I was selling chicks to the feed store for awhile, but now I'm on a break til spring.
My polish hen died unexpectedly, so I hatched some of hers. I won eggs from Sally, and hatched some of hers. I really like hatching.
I love genetics, but I'm struggling to learn the codes. I do better visually. So that's why I want to hatch again. And besides, I might stumble across the next great breed! What's any breed but a mix of others?
It's for science, Benny!
