It's always amazed me just how dumb our parents are, and how smart they suddenly become when we become one!
Depends on the maturity of both parties, I believe. 14 is definitely too young for anything more than holding hands on the girl's front porch. 16, maybe, with strictly enforced curfews and full knowledge of where they're going, who's going with them, and when they'll be back home. First infraction grounds for immediate suspension of dating privileges.

Strange he'd build with soffited overhangs. Was it for storage on the outside wall? Once build you could cut the rafter off on the ground. Problem I see is the extra soffit would cost you more in material. And yes I agree stay off that ladder as much as possible.

Only thing I'd hang on the outside would be an aluminum extension ladder, which wouldn't need weather protection. It'll come together, eventually, but it ain't gonna be tonight. I'm tired; tomorrow's another day.
