I've been doing a lot with my grandson lately.
Fishing....taught him to ride a bike.....took him to Fayette state park
(Google it....it's a cool old ghost town).....fishing again today.
And have a full schedule between today and Tuesday when he goes back home.
My Call duck eggs are coming along well
(The ones that actually started....still have too many clears)
I'll check back in soon.

Congrats to the gs for learning to ride a bicycle! :celebrate

Howdy to all you lovers of everything feathered and furry! It's been awhile, so I thought I'd drop by to let everyone know that I'm alive and well. There's been a lot of real-life stuff going on in my house over the past couple of months, so I've been a bit preoccupied. Things have finally smoothed out, but I still have tons of stuff to do. It's been quite awhile since I incubated any eggs, but I peek in on the thread every chance I get. I know I won't be incubating any more until the spring, so I thought I'd give an update on the birds I'll be using for breeding. They're still young, and they will go through a lot of changes between now and breeding season, so it'll be awhile before I can start picking out who will be bred, who won't be bred, and who will be bred with whom. Some of you may remember, I have two families of HRIR. I see potential in many of these birds, and I'm hoping to get a trio from each side. Quads would be nice, but I can raise a lot of babies even if I only have two decent pairs. They look a little rough around the edges right now since they're in the middle of molting, and the cockerels have hit a growth spurt that's made them slender. This intense southern heat isn't helping much, but I know they'll grow into their new bodies pretty soon. I'm really looking forward to see how they look as adults...

Hi Phil. Off to granddaughters birthday. Ford not ready yet.

I'd also like to learn how to cook it... Problem is, DH likes his well done, I like mine raw.

Oh no...not well done....not prime rib

I like mine closer to medium.....maybe medium rare....but not well.....that just destroys what makes prime rib so freaking good....

Even medium rare is way to cooked for me. :D

Hi, Kathy!

Since you're here, I have a question about Ivermectin. Topically applied, is it 8 drops per bird? Thanks in advance!

Hi Joey.....hope things are okay now.
I really hate those real life things ....usually they aren't fun at all.

Hey there, Phil!

Things are much better now.

Yeah, sometimes life throws you a curve, but you have to keep swinging!

Welcome back! These Birds are incredibly beautiful!
Hi, LaLO! It's good to be back!!! Not sure how much I'll be participating, but I'm going to get back as much as possible!

I'm not trying to be argumentative, but this is actually the "ugly" stage for these birds. They're only 17 weeks old, and don't normally reach full maturity until they're around 7(ish) months old. They're going through some serious changes, but just like the ugly duckling, they will to transform into beautiful birds.

Hi, MC!!!

Yea the office tried those rechargeable batteries for cameras they were always plugged in. Then we had to sign for the regular batteries.
I've had good luck with rechargeable batteries. Over time they will save money.
At work, it was crazy that general stores would always be out of batteries at Christmas time. I couldn't believe the tightwads wouldn't buy batteries for their kid's toys and steal them from the company.

Good morning ....
Hope that Saturday is a good one for you all.
I'm driving 4 hours up into Illinois to pick up birds and buy the guy dinner that's carrying them east.

Nice.
You've been absent a while.
I understand being busy.

That's a good idea. You can make juicy flavorful PR for yourself and then you can cook some dry shoe leather for him.

Oh no...not well done....not prime rib

No juices left in well done.

Even medium rare is way to cooked for me.

I don't mind medium rare but most places overcook so I always ask for rare. Usually it is about right. If it is way undercooked, you can always have them throw it back on the grill but you can't uncook meat.
