Mira is now eating on her own. I massaged her crop earlier and got most of the food that was in it through and immediately after, she started searching for food. She's feeling so good today that I thought I would take her out to visit her brothers and sisters. She was so excited that she jumped right out of my hands (was only inches from them) and tried to rejoin them. They all seemed happy to see each other. Now, she's crying in my room because she wants back out with her flock

But she's healing up! No crying, fussing, or head shaking when I cleaned up her head today

Great news!
I wouldnt let her out with them too much though, if the wound happens to start bleeding or whatever theyll just start pecking again

Hi Dennis, whats up? Since I sold most of the flock off, i have tons of people asking for Legbars and Sapphires, what is your web address so that I can forward it. I must have deleted our old message with that info! @dheltzel

Might be MIA for a while; possibly into tomorrow. Had to take DW to the ER a bit ago; she thinks it's an anxiety attack...idk from nuthin'. I had to come back to lock the birds up; going back now to see what's up with her. BBASAP
oh no!! sorry whites, hope she is better now!

I thought she was when she went to bed, but she's up & complaining of being all jittery inside; making appt. with the Dr. today. She's like her mother was; always something going on healthwise.
And Good morning to you & the rest of the crew..

I'm still several pages behind, but I'm getting there.

Beautiful day out there...only hitting 80* for an hour or less this evening. I think I can handle that.

Rarely get on here during the day. It's a hot one ! I'm inside taking a break. I miss everyone!

Here is what I'm raising at the moment. The mom died and I put the egg in the incubator for the few days it had left. Started with feedings every half hour. Now only 4 times a day. Thank God they grow fast! Parrotlet.

Here is one that is only a couple weeks older...

And here is a picture of one of my kids working at the Hubbell building site. My other son now works there with me. He is doing copper work.
Wow, they start so small and delicate looking, amazing they can survive.
Thanks Mike. She hadn't been sleeping well to begin with, then starting her work day @ 4AM & ending the day doing a 4hr stint in the ER last night has kept her in bed all day, except for two hrs or less this morning to keep an appointment with the family doc. He says her brain's always in high gear, thinking about all she has going on with family & church programs (one of which she conceived of & administers). He gave her a prescription to slow her brain down". I told her she's got too much on her plate.
I certainly hope the medications can help her.

Oh, no, of course not. They were seperated by fencing but both sides were trying to get through lol. Only closely supervised visits through the fence are allowed. She won't be going back out for quite a while, even when she's feeling back to normal. She's only going to go back out once there's nothing that might be tempting for anyone to pick at.

She's sitting here, preening her feathers and picking at the stuffed animal that's in her little cage with her. Every now and then, it looks like she reaches just a little too far and she stops and shakes her head for a second and gets back to it. She must be pulling the stitches when she reaches. I'm so relieved to see her doing some normal chicken stuff :)

Jace is cute. At first I thought that was the name of the brown speckled hen, until I realized you meant the child. Geeze,I need to slow down and read these posts better!Your hen has the same type of coloring as my Diva. I was told Diva is a Mille Fleur Old English bantam.Sounded good, so I went with it.:) She's small, that's for sure. Even tinier than my much-hated-by-her Frizzle bantam roo. I named him Frizzle, bc I like the word :) Here's his pic. I guess he just looks alot bigger, bc of all his crazy feathers. He's difficult to get a good photo of, bc he wont stay put long enough.
Sorry for the confusion. Jace IS the brown speckled hen!
