I could explain why there is horizontal chicken wire, but it would be confusing. This is the male, and if you look close, you can see the egg.

We LOVE the StL zoo!! Haven't been in years, but it used to be a main stop. DH is from Iowa but his best friend settled in StL. It was our "halfway" point before kids. Now we try to break it up more evenly.

The brewery, science center, zoo, and a cards games was a yearly thing for us until DD started school.

It's a treasure.
The brewery tour along with the Clydesdale stables is amazing. That's their first but smallest brewery.

Next time you come, another must see is the Missouri Botanical Garden.
Founded in 1859 by Henry Shaw, it's 79 acres include a 14 acre Japanese strolling garden surrounding the lake which is the finest Japanese garden outside of Japan.

That's near the zoo? I think we may have parked near there once. Or something like it, very pretty.

My favorites are the penguins, but no one ever wants to go in with me! I also enjoy the aviary. Once we saw an elephant swimming in the most with only its trunk out of the water, like a cartoon.

I love zoos, and that one is just the best. :love
