@campingshaws as far as the snakes, make sure to keep weeds trimmed, dont give them a place to hide (like rock piles, wood piles, etc) and eggs collected asap
and wear real boots that are tall, steel toe, snake proof maybe

That's all standard. Parts of the pond are right next to the dining hall, so we want it safe. We also kill every single snake we see (if it's in the pond or too close to the chickens. Others get to live!). BUT there are still tons of them around.

I think you asked what type of box the hen was shipped in. This is what they used.
Yes I did. It looks like a Horizon box.
Did she arrive in good shape?
When I drank..... I mostly drank diet blueberry juice with vodka...... Now it's mostly Coke and Pepsi.....

diet juice? what is that?

I hope it went well!

It went poorly. We played worse than ever.
My son won his first game and he was so jazzed about that. He went 1-1.
I lost all 4 games, my friend that recruited me lost all 3 of his games, one other player was 1-1 and the other guy won all 4 of his.
We lost to some of the worst players in the league. It was just one of those nights where most of us screwed up.
We played pretty well to a point but couldn't put the games away.

Deer Saly I realy hope thst you don't think that human hair is a good protein source! Like that Seely horse hair eating, goat mentioned previously!

Not a good source but animal protein nonetheless.

I have a problem with any doctor who'd prescribe drugs w/o any symptoms...just my contorted way of thinking, maybe.
The definition of 'practicing medicine'.

@ChickenCanoe Glass art in a botanical garden I thought you might enjoy.
Hey @Sally Sunshine here is another butt for your but posts. I love it, but I am a horse person. This is Paz.
I recognize it. It's Chihuly art. Where was it?
We have several collections at MOBOT. When they were first introduced, they were all over the garden.
The piece hanging in the entry arch of the Ridgeway Center is spectacular, as are those on the bench arches in the primary rose garden.
Interesting as well are the glass orbs floating in the lily ponds in front of the Climatron.
The next art form I want to learn is blowing glass. We have a great studio and school in midtown called the Third Degree Glass Factory.

I wasn't a huge fan at first but they've definitely grown on me. Especially now that they aren't everywhere and overpower the garden like in '06 when they dominated the landscape. I went to see plants, not sculpture - but sculpture of all kinds has always had a prominent place in The Gardens.
This video is from back then.

Your animals won't eat them?
It's a delicious fruit.

I'm trying to decide when to put our new batch of chicks outside, and if I should put them with the other juvie's, or just go ahead and put them with the adult flock.

This is the dwarf Guava, it is much more taster!
Until one experiences the plethora of wonderful fruit varieties in the tropics and warm climates like yours, it is hard to imagine being able to go beyond apples, peaches, pears, oranges, melons and berries (as much as I adore berries).

The #1 Ackee fruit at the end of the next video was imported to Jamaica from West Africa. The national dish of whitefish and Ackee is widely eaten for breakfast since the Ackee is similar to cheesy scrambled eggs.

The rose apple in the following video is very similar to the water apple of central America.

yes, the equinox occurs, this seems like a trick question?
IMHO, the amazingly advanced Mayan civilization knew more about astronomy than we do today.
Their calendar was more accurate than ours so there was no need for leap years or leap seconds.

They built buildings with the equinox and other celestial events in mind.
The pyramid at Chichen Itza was situated so that it appeared as a serpent ascending the steps at dawn on the spring equinox and descends at dusk on the fall equinox.
It was also designed to make an echo sound that resembles the sacred quetzal.
