Quote: I banded a few when I kept them; never heard a peep out of any of them. More humane than cutting them out IMO
My friend hatched some eggs, 10 hatched and we're fine for 4 days, today 7 chicks suddenly started shaking and then died. This is all what she told me, I didn't see this first hand so I have no further details. On medicated chick feed in the brooder inside. What happened???
Yes thanks Kathy, now I feel better. ...... I feel like Tchaikovsky with all this nutt cracker around!
You are talking about the horrible rubber bands?! And you are surprised it is crying?Goat friends: I banded the little buckling tonight and now he's just laying there crying. The other boys didn't react that way. Does banding affect individuals differently? I caught both for sure... I was worried the band was a little bit low, but my farm friend double checked when she dropped off the keet and said it looks ok. She said to give him baby Tylenol, but I didn't because I've since read that isn't good for them...![]()

From what I've read it can be normal for the buckling to act like this. If he doesn't seem better in the morning then I'll start to worry and find a place to take him. I did this one the exact same way I did the other boys in the spring, so maybe it's just him. They acted a little lethargic a day or so after the banding, and then were fine.that he's back to himself at breakfast.
