Nothing beats a nice piece of meat on the grill! Some grild vegetables and nice glass of wine! I' ll take it any time! Lunch today
Looks tasty. We foodies have to stick together. Appetizer for last night's dinner was blanched broccolini, fennel, cauliflower, yellow and red bell peppers each wrapped in prosciutto. The store ran out of the latter so I also had to use mortadella and coppa as well to wrap all the veggies. It was sprinkled with grated parmesan. I didn't have time to go to a part of town where the fish selection was better. I was looking for halibut but no one around here had it fresh but I found some fresh wild caught swordfish which I know isn't the wife's favorite so I knew I had to cook it well and take it up a notch. Main course was broiled swordfish with a glaze of caramelized raspberry balsamic vinegar. That was served alongside fettucine with Swiss chard, onion and broccoli with a chardonnay sauce and grated romano. The wine for the sauce and drink was a '98 Chilean Chardonnay I found in the wine cellar. You can tell by the dust, it has been there a long time and is now mature. That was supposed to be topped off by fried lobster tails which we had in Isla Mujeres, Mexico on our honeymoon but that would have been too much so we're having that tonight. We even ate in the dining room to music rather than in the kitchen or in front of the TV.
Looks delicious!! You needed some figs with that prosciutto! We have here the cosher version made from beef, goes very good with figs and muskat grapes!

less mouths to feed at tleas

my daughter's fingers are swollen like 5x their normal size after getting her second sting by a bee... I kind of want to take her in to get an epi pen but my hubby is telling me im over reacting.
i would get one just to be safe, depending on what she is allergic too every reaction will be bigger

Im not worried about today, i'm worried about what happens NEXT time.
Her first sting... no reaction but a small red spot.
Her second sting, swelling like 10x their normal size on fingers....
so third, or fourth time.. leads me to believe, an epi pen may be needed to hav eon hand, just in case? where 30-45 minutes from an ER if she gets stung again.
could be a different type of bug that got her

Hi everyone. Back to work but bad news. Mri results came back and if they call you before your appointment, its never good news.I have this: Complex tearing of the triangular fibrocartilage. Its about as good as it sounds. basically the group of cartilage and surrounding tissues/fibers that stabilizes the hand to the wrist is jacked up and why I have no coordination or grip strength and severe intermittent pain. I was immediately place in a hand and wrist brace/stabilizer until I can see a hand surgeon to determine the severity and course of treatment-anywhere from a mega-brace & steroid and pain injections to a cast to surgery. I am still able to desk duty for now and I am teaching the new grads, nurses and techs quite a bit. But I am having my pity party right now and if one more person tells me "well at least your not left handed" I am going to tie their arm behind their back and challenge them to carry a lunch tray, wash their hair, make a meatloaf....... I'm sorry to be negative and vent but this is far from anything I ever expected.....

Yeah, talk to the doctor soon. BTW, hot black coffee! It works for asthma attacks as well as anaphylactic shock. JIC you need that info.
not just coffee but i think its any caffeine but coffee is usually the fastest, most easily accessible

Kelly the baby dove looks like a big blob in the nest. I think she is supposed to be flying around by tomorrow. So far, I have only seen her laying down in the nest. I was getting worried until I saw her eating this morning. Since not everyone likes to follow links, I will just tell you. Doves have a special milk that they form in their mouths for the young. I will have to relook at the information, but I believe that her parents will be taking care of her for another two weeks.

cant wait to see her flying

So, yesterday was day 7 of my incubation of 7 eggs (aruacuna eggs, though father is a light sussex), and when candling I could only see veins in one egg....the other egg shells are kinda dark, and Im not all that experienced at this...there appeared to be air cells in most the other eggs though...

Should I consider all but the veiny egg to be clear and toss them, or should I keep them a little longer and hope?

This is only my second time incubating eggs so I'm a little lost at this point...any advice would be helpful.
leave them for now

Lone egg has pipped now, so I may wake up to 5 chicks
Awesome congratulations!!

Yay. I just put 4 bantam eggs in my incubator! Hopefully they arent too old and fertile! I got them off a friend. The rooster was a crossbreed bantam and the hens could be silkie bantam, australorp bantam, some other crossbreed bantam!
Awesome!!

Did you see the house oversight committee hearings yesterday where they grilled the CEO of the epi-pen mfg. for price gouging by raising the price 500% in 9 years?
The company's profits on EpiPen have grown from about 150 million to over a billion in that time.
She happens to be the daughter of a senator and the daughter of the President of the National Association of State Boards of Education who used her position to get EpiPen in all schools nationwide.

Oh ye of little faith. The man vs. food guy also filmed here. Ya'll might appreciate the Monte Cristo dog with strawberry jam. And Pappy's barbecue is out of sight. People come early and stand in lines out the door because they don't serve leftovers. They close the door each day - sometimes as early as 4PM when they run out of food.
I cant stand this show!! He his harming his helth doing that stupid show! And everyone cheers while he is eating itself to death!
