sorry... had to go. no just BBQ was great! could cut it with a spoon and no i didnt calibrate my hygrometer, i have no idea how... ill try to figure that out before i incubate again. Not sure i am able to build one..sounds tricky!

Exciting week.. October 6th would have been my grandmas 93rd birthday

Why would we do that?

I can order 4 geese in the spring, I want two of the fancy butted ones, they are supposed to be fairly calm and quiet, and then 2 of the french ones that are noiser, and good layers. (I hope they don't fly off???) I assume domestic geese don't just run away, but I've heard of people having their geese leave....

That would mean we'd need a waterfowl area, that includes a fly-net. When I mentioned that for the ducks and geese, he looked like he wanted to strangle me. hahaha

But, I did want a guard goose. I would hope my geese would stay around our house and alert to predators. I'm pretty sure strangers would be more wary about a mean goose, then a big fluffy dog.

Today is Day 20...well, early Day 21 as of an hour ago.

I went in and put a small plastic dish with a tiny piece of wet sponge in it and I think that did the trick.

They are the layer 500, lay close to 300 eggs a year, best layers so far, from metzer farms. I was going to order some from them.... and a couple of geese. I think I've decided next spring on the french toulouse, and 1 of the sebastopol.

not sure if this is where I aski my question but here I go....... my chicken was setting on 6 eggs all but 2 have hatched and she refuses to finish setting on them. I see the air bubble and they both are very dark.... her last hatching was a day ago. I have them on a heating pad at about 100 degrees, is this something that will work, do you think she quit setting on them because she knows something, she had actually quit setting on 3 and I kept pushing them back under her and it hatched, do you think there is a chance the last two will hatch and how many days should I continue to do this

Ever have one of those days?

I am pretty darn good at cooking and baking. However, there is one thing I have never been very good at. Making pie shells. The only way I can do it is to roll it out between sheets of wax paper. Unfortunately, I have not done any pies in a long time. I forgot to add the flour to the wax paper. When I went to flip the shell into the pan, it stuck to the bottom piece of paper. Okay. I can fix that. Right? Well...
It took a few tries, but the shell rolled out kinda okay. I had to do a little piecing it together around the sides.
The second one went better, but that was a given. Part of the shell slid to the edge of the counter, and broke off onto the floor.
Then I went to make the pie filling. I don't think I have ever used canned pumpkin before. I will not intentionally use it again.
When it came time to add the eggs, I went straight for the duck eggs. Unfortunately, one of the eggs fell on the floor. One advantage of fresh eggs is thick shells. It only cracked some. Unfortunately, it broke enough that part of the shell fell into the bowl. I never did figure out where it went.

I tried using a sieve spoon, but it was too good at hiding. If I do share these pies, someone is going to get a surprise.

At this point, I have two mediocre looking shells, flour all over the floor, as well as all over me. There is egg shell in the pie filling. Oh, and my yoga pants are too long. The hems are now covered in everything that was on the floor.

I toss in the other ingredients, hoping that I am not going so fast that I am getting the measurements wrong.

The last thing I had to add was butter. I now have to pee like crazy. Did I stop to go to the bathroom? Nooooooo! I wanted to finish making the filling! Did I end up regretting that decision? Yeeeeessssss!
So, I cleaned everything up (Yes, including me. Stop laughing so hard!) and put the filling in the fridge to chill. I decided to get some Kool-Aid. I ended up spilling it all over the floor. I went to take a drink, with the glass in the wrong hand. Not that most adults have a problem with that. Unfortunately, I did! I spilled it down my shirt.
Something tells me I am going to be burning the pies.

I had a 7 foot cubic freezer full of milk, and I was joking with my husband he should make soap out of it, so I didn't have to just throw it all away when it got too old to use for the kiddo.

(I ended up tossing it because I didn't have time to do anything with it, but apparently, it's also good for your garden.)

The essential oils are really easy to get, most health food stores have it. Or you can do what I do and order online, Amazon and Ebay have plenty of sellers that sell it.

I don't see why it wouldn't work, I have a comfrey salve with rosemary in it that works wonders so I assume it'll work here too. Just depends on what you want to use it for, I suggest researching. I don't trust Young Living, Aura Cacia, or any of those "members only" type EO scams. Someone did a chemical analysis test on many of the most popular EO brands and the majority of those really popular ones came back as having either adulterated their oil or outright lied. The only reason NOW Foods came back in their peppermint oil test as not matching was because there's a possibility they don't use peppermint EO sourced in the United States. European-grown peppermint oil is vastly different.

They're very acidic, so I wouldn't use them in soap. But i do really enjoy the tea and suggest steeping the hips in vinegar as a hair rinse for red hair.
