Haven't you heard? That's why God invented extension cords. Everything else failing, run HD extension cords to the coop with a power strip. Just be sure to wrap any connections with electrical tape to keep them from shorting out in wet conditions. I did it for years when the barn & coop were 200'+ from the nearest power source.
One word... "conduit".Yeah, but my house is far enough away that it requires several humungous extention cords, tried that last winter and nearly had a heart attack when I found one wire had the protective covering worn away... I don't wanna burn the coop down!!!

It only comes on when the water reaches 35F, and cuts off when it reaches 40F.
now you are makin me even more jealous.... . I'd love to not have to jump on the bottom of a rubber tub every morning to get out the frozen solid hunk of ice in it!!! Thought about running a line to the coop... But way too expensive!
Very true, and definitely the best approach, but that gets into $$$
PVC isn't that expensive, sweetie. But it has to be buried below the frost line to keep the water from freezing. Burying it is the worst part of running the line, but a water line, deicer, and auto topoff would save you a lot of time and trouble. Just something to think about this winter while you're lugging buckets of water to the coop...now you are makin me even more jealous..... I bought a 100' heavy-duty outdoor extension cord for $13, and 50' of 1/2" pvc conduit for $16. I cut the plugs off to run it through the conduit and hardwired each end. Total cost, including box, receptacle, and light switch... $35. Of course, if you want to keep the plugs attached, which requires larger pipe, then the cost will rise substantially.
