Thank you everyone for the well-wishes. We talked with my mother today and confirmed we're okay. Our government is doing a widescale sweep of all the Brussels no-go zones, no one in or out of those neighborhoods with suspected terrorist cells. Paris has everyone on high alert now, no one wants a repeat in their countries.

Anyone out there had any expirience with sultan eggs? I want to get 2 sultan hens next year and hatch them, but I don't know about their general hatch rates. Are they the same or harder as other breeds? I know that seramas can be really hard.

The eggs are from my own flock. Took a chance and collected the first dozen from the two young ladies I bought this spring. There are now two escapees and seven noticeable pips! Hoping for a full house by morning! Lol. No pics yet, but I will try to get some up tomorrow, still have some humidity on the bator windows, so not sure pics would be clear enough

So bummed the three Amerucaunas I hatched are most assuredly not. Probably EEs, no puffy cheeks on any of them. I went back to look at the pics of the parents to see that the possible dads had pink legs. They all hatched from really pretty blue (tiniest green tinge) eggs so at least there is that.
:( a breed to be careful purchasing for sure they are adorable babies though! it gives you reason to buy more eggs!!!!!

So far so good, I dont mess with them at all, just check temp and humidity. Day 11 starts at 6pm tonight. 25 eggs viable on day 7. Cant wait for day 14!! And one of my hens laid her first egg today so its been a good day lol
awesome!!! which breed hen laid her fist egg!! I love getting new eggs, esp if its a new color! kids always fight over those though lol

is this rare, one of my solid black Silkie hens has white toenails??

they are dying to be painted

I feel like I am peeling my face of right now! My poor eggs suffered through an 11 hr black out, an 8 hr black out, and now Hubby wants to fix the water heater, guess what yes turn off the power in house while he goes to the hardware store for the wrong part, then the incubator is in the way of the hot water heater, Then it is not then it is, then put it back in front of the water heater but don't go near the water heater after I almost drop the incubator , clanging the eggs together. now I have them on a hand warmer again until he gets his new parts, and I can go near the water heater again....oh and by the way "why am I being sassy?" Today feels like

Friday the 13th.

Red wine is helping.
oh man..... you need a few glasses if not a bot by now!! gimminies woman!!! but look how prettie they are how did it go, I hope it went quickly and without issue!

Not a good hatch, out of 12 eggs only 7 hatched and 3 of them died, the 3 that died were very small compared with the others, maybe thats the reason I dont know but anyway all 4 are doing well photo's to follow

are they all shades of blue/green eggs and like a mix of hen colorings as well?

It was Marsha, my white EE. it's a GORGEOUS slate color!!!! I have teal and blue and aqua so I'm very happy for a slate blue!! Such a neat color I'll take a photo when I get a chance!

Sally, the majority were more of a light green blue, but there were three that were quite a bit darker on the green side. The girls were hatchery stock, but dad is Americana though out as near as the breeder I got him from could document. My older Americana hens have pretty much given up laying, one or two eggs a week each, and none were fertile this spring, hence the 'replacements' from the hatchery. Not too concerned about heritage at this point but even if the hens are EEs or olive eggers, I will be happy.

I will be jealous I only have tiny serama, legbar eggs and green/blue project eggs nothing else laying since I sold all the flock
