Head to the Frog, walk up to the bar and order a drink..... and they can tell you all about little pills of colors that can help with that...  and perhaps try some sushi?
:gig. It's in the Random Rambling section for a reason. Regulars are nice once you get to know them. Can seem like a tough crowd if you have a thin skin.

Super supportive of chicken questions though, if the topic happens to come up!

Well...I had to spend a few hours fixing the peacock pen. I didn't see it earlier, but the lion had grabbed a peacock by the tail and ripped a big hole (like 2'x2') in the aviary netting. I found blood tail feathers stuck in the fence and the hole was above my head. Inside the pen, there is a separate chainlink dog kennel. Some of the birds roost on top of that. It's one of those that he grabbed. The pen is 5 foot chainlink covered with chicken wire and Aviary netting up another few feet and over the peaked roof. He had to either stand up really tall or jump to get that bird. The bird is okay. This must have been the thrashing that alerted me.

Nothing on the game camera. I'm beginning to think it's not taking night pictures like it should be....

Sorry they didn't hatch. Did you take pictures?

-Kathy
thanks, 10 hatched though. I gave 2 to a friend so I still have 8

Try setting up the camera, about belt high, then walk in front of it,where it's sure to detect the motion, then pull the SD card & check it. I've had SD cards go bad,as well. Some cameras don't have a visible flash at night, so as not to spook the game.

Thanks. I'm going to have to experiment with it tonight. I had it set up last week with my dead peacock in front of it. I got lots and lots of pictures (daytime) of my cows sniffing the bird and sniffing the camera. Something came in and took the bird at night and the camera shows nothing. So sd card must be fine. Just may not be working at night. Oh, and I drove in front of it once last night and it didn't catch that either. It took several pics as I was retrieving it this morning though...
I don't know. Stupid thing....
It's a Stealth Cam.

So I did eggtopsiys on 3/5 eggs that didn't hatch. One was shrink wrapped, one looked like bacteria had taken over, and the other looked like it didn't keep developing.

The ointment came today for lice. A little late though. Oh well, good precaution.
good luck with the lice sweets!

I'm doing an experiment... Just set some bantam eggs with the duck eggs and will try to see how soon I can candle signs of life in them.

-Kathy
what is the experiment?

I am addicted and want to set eggs now

do you have pics of your coop TJ ?? you have no electric fencing run with them critters there?

@Sally Sunshine, it's not a fancy experiment, just wanna see if I can see signs of life at 1, 2 or 3 days incubation. They're light colored shells, so it should be easy to see.
