if i have eggs sitting in a carton level in the incubator and the thermometer in the middle reads 101 and then i raise one end of the carton and the thermometer reads 102, is this fluctuation enough to kill the eggs?

Probably won't hurt if the eggs aren't left in that temp for extended periods of time, which would mean tilting them quite frequently. If you're raising the ends, the eggs in the middle will remain at a fairly consistent temp, while the eggs on the ends will fluctuate in temp. Why not raise the front and rear so all the eggs would get equal heat exposure?
