Great,

Oh no, but thank you!!! The story is... I was "supposed" to be a boy- or at least my mother was convinced of it. There was no girl name chosen. I was technically named after the anesthesiologist's wife, Rochelle (and yes, Jewish), who went by Shelly... They slapped my dad's name "Lee" on the end to insure a lifetime of never easily finding anything personalized! Sadly, my beloved dad passed away suddenly this past September- the day we got this "dream house" of ours on .65 acres (a HUGE lot in Southern Cal!)... I needed a distraction, had been merely thinking of ONE day having chickens and ruh roh Raggy...here I am.

They are therapy for sure and I always need a challenge. I feel like I'm up against a formidable opponent with this hatching thing! Super overwhelmed...which I think is why, [@=/u/162672/Sally-Sunshine]@Sally Sunshine[/@][/@], I merely lurked and researched through the HAL. My head was spinning!!!

Ducks actually tolerate the cold better than chickens.
My ducks are the only ones willing to come out today! I even opened the door to free range the chickens, and they couldn't be tempted out. I about died laughing when I looked out the kitchen window to see the ducks in the chicken pen. They were sticking their heads into the chicken coop! Even with that, seeing that the ducks were out and about, those chickens would not come out themselves.
I just left mine in because below zero can sneak up on you. Inside I know they are at least sheltered. And I spoil them with snacks all day. They get all happy whenever I open the door...lots of popcorn and bananas today.
