@Sally Sunshine I'm totally confused about checking for internal pipping. I get what it is but not what to look for.

so it is okay to take them out of the incubator even when they are in lockdown?
I'm not Sally, but I check by candling and listening... When candling you are looking for the beak and quite often you will be able to hear them peeping or pecking at the shell.

I'm what some might call a meddler, so I'm always opening mine. Probably best to listen to Sally. :D

TIMELINE of a silky HATCHING!

NOTE HOW LONG IT TOOK FROM INTERNAL TO ZIPPING

MONDAY 5 PM noticed external pip

TUESDAY DAY 20 9AM STILL RESTING,
hole slightly larger but chick is NOT zipping!

2 PM TUES. CHICK IS ALREADY OUT!
missed the last quick zipping!
Silky on the left, two CCL hatched at the same time!

ITS IMORTANT TO NOTE:
THIS CHICK TOOK WELL OVER 24 hours to hatch! and absolutely normal!

another hatching video see ZIPPING like a ZIPPER only takes up to an hour!!
