My coolerbator was made from all parts here in the barn except the wafer thermostat. Not sure I'm pleased with the wafers performance but it is what it is for now.

We have all these eggs incubating, GF Biels and Marans coming Feb. 6, which I planned to put straight to the grow out pen with heat (they'll be 3 weeks and hugs from my understanding), and it's next to the coop which we can't move again. How on earth am I to rid (also know that's near impossible) this space from the virus?!? We are vaccinating whatever we hatch and the GF's are coming vaccinated. All my other girls (all hatchery) are perfectly fine. I'm just sick. Please help and send warm hugs... Or vodka.

You will soon get to the place where all your birds are either resistant or vaccinated....and some chickens are naturally resistant, so hopefully you won't lose any more. Maybe the hatchery birds that you have were vaccinated...

This is a terrible disease I received Mareks from my neighbors Sussex took losing all of them and some of my mixed breeds before it did not bother the birds anymore. After talking with him he confirmed that's what it was and offered to replace birds but by then damage done. He vaccinates now. Terrible to watch feel your pain. I'd send some Vodka but we are using all of ours to make vanilla.

I actually am halfway through a bottle of champagne- it's something my sister and I started when we lived together up in Northern Cal. We designated Sundays for laundry and chores and decided it wasn't nearly as much of a drag if we each had a bottle of champagne for the day. That, Bloodies (vodka) and screwdrivers (again with the vodka) are somehow wildly acceptable to drink at 9am...yet, you order a beer in public, with your eggs and you get looks.

I just seeded the area nearest to me, yesterday with "Omega 3 pasture seed" and will enclose them with a cute white fence once the grass is grown. I'll move the dog fence to keep them from newly seeded spots until it's sustained and RE seeding on it's own. I reallllly do to want to move them- and in fact have no idea where I would!
