I was thinking 8x8, then building the brooder on the back wall,
If you have a large enough run and the birds won't be confined to the coop for long periods, you can easily put 10 LF birds in a 5x8 coop. If you're going with an 8x8, there will be sufficient room for the birds and a brooder inside...

Poor girl! We have a tub in the coop that we use in the summer to collect the water from the misters so it doesn't get too muddy in the coop, I didn't notice until today that it had fallen down from leaning against the wall, she was stuck underneath it. There were two eggs under it so she was stuck in it for at least two days. She seems fine despite her ordeal, she's just drinking water like she's never seen it before. No more tubs against the wall!! Hopefully she'll be ok. :/ It's kind of nice to know she is one of the girls laying olive eggs but I wish I didn't have to find out in these circumstances.
Aww!poor girl! Glad she's ok. I have a fat little hen that's obsessed with food. One day, she somehow managed to flip the food dish upside down on top of herself lol. It's a good thing that I collect the dishes every night! She was fine obviously, though a bit confused as to what happened!

if I decide to do it it will split the run, run is also the garden, it's dream of mine, got part of it done already, just want to make it look better at some point

Hmmm.....

I agree. This coop is 8'x8' with the front wall 8' tall, and the back wall 6'. This gives the roof a pitch of approximately 3/12, which is sufficient to shed water. If I were dealing with snow, it would have to be much steeper...
mine is 12/12.....metal roof. You don't want to be standing in the wrong spot when the snow load comes down....:lau

Well, I hope you guys had a more fun day than me chores, feed store, cringe Walmart, build my new transition pen for the Christmas chicks sanitizecthe brooder and bath, then move in the two and three day olds, and now off to help a friend with wood.
What do you think of the pen? dog play pen yarp plastic dog pads under a roost landscaping timber and topped with bird net.

I candled, weighed, and drew air cells on my 33 today. With my weighing on day 4 to be sure how their weight loss was going, I found I was hugely ahead of where they should be trending so I upped the humidity. FLASH TO TODAY: Air cells are on the small side for day 8 even though my weigh loss was in line with what it should be.

. I think I will drop my humidity back into the mid 30's and check again in a week.

. Although, I could clearly tell that at least 19 were viable... Oh yeah!!!!

Plus on a side note, I have someone coming to grab my 2- 7 week old cockerels I hatched out last. I was worried about getting rid of them but I've had tons of people wanting them! YAY no stew pot for them!
you have time to work with them sweets! day 8 of 18 your doing what you should do!

For anyone needing a chick fix
LOVE the salt and peppa!!!

Honestly, quickest and cheapest way is to make the front wall a little taller than the back wall.
good advice!
