Good morning everyone! I just read through a LOT of pages. 31 inches of snow!!! Glad the storms have moved on and you have some time to dig out. I loved the photo of the geese all lined up....but the Frizzled chick is the cutest thing I've ever seen! Only time I have seen a fox is when it ran in front of me as I was skiing through a narrow pass....I almost hit it. It was cute and fuzzy.

While most of you were being snowed on, we finished the first part of one of the new coops as a brooder room. Because of the compliance issue we had, we made the LARGE coop we were building into 2 small coops (or as we started calling them - sheds). Next weekend we will build the covered run, and add a door for these chicks to go outside. Top shelf will have the heat plate and the little babies. The bottom currently has my 7 week old chicks. We covered the plywood with flooring vinyl, to make it easier to clean - anyone see a problem with that? Here some photos as the construction was happening.

@Sally Sunshineno I'm at work. M-F 5:15/30A.M.to 5-7P.M. and some Sat mornings. I am hoping to be able to drive without too much pain by the time I am empty. I just have to suck it up, life doesn't stop for pain as we all know.

I did the vinyl thing, too; bought it cheap @ Ollie's. My mistake (or 1 of them) was not making the bottom a "slider", like a dresser drawer. The result was that I had to bend the sheet of vinyl to get it through the door; bent it too much & cracked it...in August.

@Sally Sunshine You dropped me from the hatching list....

I have 12 shipped Salmon Favorelles and 11 shipped Cochins set on 1/15, should hatch on 2/4. I also have 12 of my own silkies set on 1/23, should hatch 2/12.

Thanks!!!

This vinyl has been sitting in a storage shed for about 4 years. We thought for sure it would crack, but it behaved. Both shelves will lift out, but we'd have to take the doors off. It's a concrete floor underneath and I'll just hose the shelving off, as I move the chicks out.
