I ordered a Dickey incubator yesterday to use as a hatcher. I decided I will not have time to build a hatcher before I have a hatch that will be more than twice what my current hatcher handles (~ 100). I have 226 eggs due to lockdown on 2/9, and an even bigger set the following week.

Wow, what a long day. Can't catch up now - gotta go do my 14 day candle and weighing for the CL eggs!

But @Sally Sunshine , I got a little more done on the coop - the last bits of business (hardware cloth apron, hanging door) always seem to take so long! And the Automatic door arrived today, so I've gotta install that. Have to finish this in the next couple days, move the Naked Neck flock in (7 pullets and a cockerel), then move the two bachelor cockerels into the old Naked Neck pen (they keep escaping out of their current one), then move Dumbledore back outside, then FINALLY I get the mudroom back so I can set up the brooder for the hatch. Got as far as this tonight, then it started to get dark... Coop is based on the Garden Coop plans, designed for lots of ventilation (hot climate), a bigger and modified version of my Cream Legbar coop, 16' X 8' total, hen house (egg laying and sleeping space) 8' x 8'. Usually they will range outside all day, but it'll be big enough for them to stay inside if needed. Will post more photos when it's done.

Off to candle!!!! I'll try to pop back in to catch up if I don't fall asleep first...

I don't need that big of one I don't think, at least not at this time. Or I'd have to build a barn instead of a coop and not enough room here for that. I hatch a few for us and a few for friends
