Daggummit! I came in from successfully moving the Naked Neck girls into the new coop (the rooster will have to wait until I can get him tonight), and was looking at the incubator, which was steady at 98.5 and 65%. I decided to top off the distilled water in the fill cup (on the outside). Then as I was watching, the humidity began to drop. Over a number of minutes. Ambient humidity is 31%, all I can think is that the incubator got stressed (but that shouldn't happen). There is a very very faint whining noise coming from one side now. I found a clean unused sponge (miracle) and cut into pieces, wet, and put in a little custard cup and put it in there. I tried to be quick to get it in. (Alas, things are a little crowded in there now - will this be ok?). I also put bowls of hot water around the vents to try to increase the humidity around the incubator (not sure if that'll do anything). Back up to humidity now. Guess I'll be watching this like a hawk much more than I thought I'd have to with a "fully automatic" incubator. :he Should I try to up the setting to 70%? Any benefit in that? @Sally Sunshine - Ant Farm
With time the humidity works less and less well with the rcoms. I added a wet sponge and put humidity up to max. I think hatching in them is not good for them (like in any bator really). I finally killed mine by trying to clean out the dander with tweezers. When it says don't put anything metal into them the mean it. It killed the electronics. I still can't see how though :(

Hey @Sally Sunshine could you point me in the right direction of what to do with the chicks after theyre hatched, like taking care of them, what i will need and what they will need etc?

Phage, a lot of the newer electronics are so sensitive to static electricity it doesn't take much to blow them up.
Dust, plus metal, plus the natural static from a human body is deadly to electronics. The advances in what they can do for us is amazing, but the trade off is they fail so much easier than the older technology.
