@Sally Sunshine, I'm just curious... Don't want to cause any drama, just want to see what was posted then maybe send them a PM.

Hilarious.....I think. 1/2 gallon per incubation seems like alot to me but what do I know. Might want to check your calculations again just to be sure.
I bought a gallon of distilled water for the first batch, and used it on the second batch as well. Just checked, and the jug is empty. It hasn't been used for anything else, so I'm sticking with my original calculation. Does it sound better if I say it averaged 2 quarts per incubation period?

Sounds much more reasonable

ummmm do I have to go follow you around to figure this out? send this person my way and we can show them how its done together?

@casportpony

I think your on. Thoughts on all her Mals? can we please get a small level in this bator and see if it has some angle that is unseen to our eye????

your good, I am trying to tag team a bunch of stuff here at home so I am on and off.. just leave this open actually.

its ok, just let them go and keep track from when you noticed them. you know to stop if blood, then give them at least 3-4 more hours and check again/
Thanks, Sally. I'll try again in a couple hours.

Pretty sure mine is level. @Fire Ant Farm , what tray did you use?

-Kathy
I used the 20 egg chicken tray. All turned well during incubation.

BUT:

All malpositioned chicks were distributed all over the incubator during the incubation (and rotated between candling).
All but one came from the same pullet (the one that came from another was also kinda rounded). She has ocular Mareks. (Currently in good health/condition, though limited eyesight.)
All were quite round in shape - kind of like the shape that they tell you not to set. I set them anyway.
All had small air cells and low moisture loss during incubation compared to the "egg shaped" eggs.

So there may be other reasons. Who knows...

I have to word this carefully because I don't want this person to be hurt. They aren't on this thread, but others may realize whom I'm speaking of. Ready?
Someone was told to do an eggtopsie on day five!!!! She candled, and didn't see veining, so she broke it open. She was horrified (she won't be doing that again!). My anger is towards the person that told her to break open all eggs on day five that don't show veining.

Yeah I'm pretty sure I saw that!

We have pretty good water where I live, but I still use distilled water. About $1 a gallon, and it will last for at least two incubations.

We have great well water here....my neighbors water sucks
