Good afternoon all. Nothing from my silkies. I flot tested them, 3 moved, but 3 no signs of life. I have to say it's the new incuview bator. It's holding Temps and humidity, but 1 egg out of 26 has hatched?

I'm going to buy another 'bator. Hoverbator? Brinsea? What's the best one to buy for no more than 40 eggs at a time?

Could be temp spikes your not seeing, could be bacteria, could be a host of reasons.
I had my last sixteen silkies a few weeks ago, only 4 made it to lock down, and all four dis.
Found out later my fan was not running consistently. Replaced the fan, but still not entirely sure that was the reason.

Unfortunately way too many projects with bigger dividends. Point, click and pay works better. So Brinsea or hoverbator or????

Yes, heater was hung up in a crust of ice on the top of the tank. 1200 watt unit!
Went back to my old trusty submersible for the next few days.
Supposed to warm up to the low teens tomorrow.

I can't see why you would blame the bator if it's holding temp and humidity. It sounds like it's doing exactly what it's supposed to do. I love my incuview. Hatched 15 of 18 the first round, and 7 of 7 the second round. I think your problem is with the eggs. Mine were fresh, local eggs set the day they were laid. Where did you get your eggs, how were they delivered, and how old were they?

Sally im thinking of getting another thermometer. Is it better to have 2(excluding the batorthermo)?

I use at least two more besides the bator thermo.

I agree. Holding temp and humidity is all you can ask of of the bator...

Both are good; depends on how much $$ you want to invest.

Unless the temps are spiking ONLY when I'm not looking. I hatched 5 successful hatches with 2 lgs. We accidently killed one, now 2 unsuccessful hatches from the only variable that changed. Maybe it is bacteria. But I sterilize between batches - although I have steadily added aggs to the first bator, so haven't sterlized that one. It's frustrating!!!!!

I hate myself now. Regardless of whyever you predict I'm gonna hate myself. Of course now I have visions of being forced to share my coffee with her.

Sharing the coffee is why I bought a bigger pot of coffee. Now they can have theres and it doesn't take away from mine.

Hey CC how's your temps there? Brutal here. Right now not so bad it's zero. But they call for seriously dropping temps throughout the night. Darn you Canadians keep sending us your weather....

Not sure what mine's wattage is, but 1200 sounds like plenty. 'Course, I didn't use mine in Canada, either.
Could the horses reach the water if you lowered the water level, so the floater wouldn't have so much to heat?
