Two have hatched so far with two well on the way. One seems quite weak but the other is drying up, stomping around the incubator like a little dinosaur.:)
yeah!!
@LocalYokel good luck with your hatch!
@billiejw89How's your first hatch coming?
Hello everybody!
Update- Today is a mix with my chickens. On a good note, I have ordered a bunch of chicks from Hoover Hatchery in IA that is NPIP and certified mycoplasma free. They will arrive the first week in March hopefully the eggs that are due that week Rees CLB, Swedish flower hens,and EE survived the required dipping, and hatch that week. We are setting Ameruacana and blue black splash English Orpingtons tonight. Sapphires to come along with LO when found.

On a sadder note my favorite hen Georgie, and my two roos go to be put down. For Georgie it is hard, but a mercy since she is still sick, the two roosters it is just sad. Here is a goodbye

Good morning everyone! At page 5800 and trying to catch up.

Did a necropsy on a thin hen and was quite surprised by what I found. Will start a thread about that, and of course there will be pictures. :D Also removed som very nasty stuff from the repro tract of a hen that was looking egg bound.

Wow , in a disturbing sounding way ,cant wait to see your discoveries

I think people will find both cases very interesting. The one that died had a huge impacted crop, but that was not why she died. I am partially to blame for her death because I kept tubing fluids to her, which I think caused some cardio/pulmonary issues from the quantity of fluids, but I'll never know for sure. However, the underlying problem was a bowel obstruction. Her bowel was thickened with scare tissue and a little infection and it was constricted so that only small amounts of feces could pass.

The repro tract hen is still alive, but I suspect that she will eventually die from infection, but as of yesterday she was eating, drinking and looking 100% normal.
