yes, serama were a big # of the chicks we shipped out Brahma being #1

Yeah, I have a farm with pigs and horses and chickens and bees and hay farming and veggie gardens and gpats coming in the spring and a dairy cow finally so I don't have any time for showing, if I did I'd be competing on my horses, and I do pet rescue, wildlife rehab as needed, a full time job, and teach horse lessons, but I can dream of free time right?? Lol

How do you know which chicks are show chicks? I thought you couldn't tell until they were grown up?

We have a pretty good idea of who is going to be show worthy before they are grown. I usually hang onto them for a couple months. I don't sell day olds.
My point, really, was just that our small chickens are making a better income than the layers. We don't sell egg for eating anymore.

I have a horse ranch too. If you ever figure out what free time is, please let me know. My kids never got into the horses much, but they sure do the chicken thing well!

I think this may be it...sexing eggs. The study sited on post #3 is interesting. It was limited to white production layers.
