Chirps are usually a good thing! I got all worked up my first couple of hatches, was nervous about them dying in the shell. Best bet is to walk away and let it happen, but I've been known to stare into the bator for hours on end too

It's VERY similar to Ukranian pysanky, where you decorate the eggs using a batik wax-resist method. Romanians usually don't use the same symbols though, instead it's usually the same symbols you see decorating houses and floral motifs. I plan on decorating mine with crocuses and daffodils since they're extremely common around here.
