@Saris- I can almost FEEL how soft this one is. And the stripes are just too much!!! I love the widdle chipmunk back!! I like the pic, hands always give proportion really nicely.

I'm going to stare at chicky pics for 21 days.... While I'm not hovering over the incubator....

She is the biggest girl by far, I think that's why these guys are hatching at the tail end of day 21 (yesterday) and day 22 (today) They are pretty big chicks.

From a quick google search, I found that Muscovy are not genetically related to the other ducks that we are familiar with. All of the latter group are in the Mallard family, while Muscovy are more closely related to goose. Any hybrids produced from Muscovy x Mallard will produce a mule duck, which will be sterile. Varying response re: if a female hybrid will lay eggs.

update update!!

@Sally Sunshine 4 pips, and 10 chicks! The chick I made a peek hole at is out and about and doing well. These guys are big and soft and I love them so much!

I thought the last picture was the biggest chick....in this photo, this one looks HUGE to me. They are SO adorable!! Congratulations on such a successful hatch!!!

Hello everyone, I'm new here. I have a conundrum I'm hoping y'all can help me solve. I'm hatching some eggs from my ducks and I'm on day 17. I was told that ducks take 28 days but I've recently learned that muscovies take about 35 days.
Here's the problem...
I have no idea how long to expect these eggs to take to hatch.

I think my ducks are a mix of half muscovy and half something else. They don't quack, but they don't have any growth on their faces either. This pic has 2 males and 2 females.
Can anyone help with an id? Mine looked exactly like muscovies when they were ducklings. Any other breeds look that way?
those are not muscovys,I would say.they look like runner, mallard mix or something.but not muscovy

and something else too is if they were Muscovy crosses is that they would not be able to have babies because Muscovy crossed with anything else besides a muscovy the babies are not able to have babies. They are the only Duck like that that I know of

I know absolutely NOTHING about ducks. I hope you find someone to help!

My previous response went missing, so I'll try again. I don't know much about ducks. Did a quick google search re: Muscovy. Found that they are genetically related to goose, while the rest of the ducks that we are familiar with are members of the Mallard family. So, any Muscovy x Mallard will produce a mule duck, which will be sterile. Varying response re: if they are capable of laying eggs, but most agree that any eggs laid will not be fertile, or capable of developing to hatch. So, if your duck eggs are growing well, and hatch, I'm guessing that they are some other sort of mix. You might go to a duck thread and ask your question there. An other thing you could do is check out some pics from hatcheries to see if you find anything matching your ducks. I would look for hatch around day 28. Wishing you the best.
