I hope she doesn't! According to my BMI, I'm .1 out of the normal range. In other words, I'm overweight... but just barely. I love food, and especially food that's cooked over a wood fire. Campfire food is the best, as it always has that smokey flavor. Of course, a propane stove doesn't have the same effect, which is the reason I don't own one. When I'm camping, if I can't cook over coals or wood, I won't cook.
I love campfire food to!!

Love the puppy pics!!!! We had one of our female GSD's at the vet yesterday for preg check, no dice on her. We are due a litter Dec 23rd out of different lines. Nala, she's a 2 yr old Czech import, is heading to the vet tomorrow for final PENN-Hip certs. Her first breeding should happen mid January.

Quick trick...use that propane stove or grill to light a piece of oak, hickory, apple, cherry, pecan...and then toss it under the grate and cook over it.

Nothing wrong with propane, if used to facilitate wood fire!

We tried that.

The first dog in our married lives was a Brittany Spaniel named Spotty. My dad adopted him when I was in third grade, and tried to make a hunting dog out of him, but he was gun-shy. So he tried to make a house pet out of him, but he peed when he got excited, with a Brittany, that is ALL THE TIME. That dog had an ear to ear smile and was happiest in a nice hole in the ground. When my parents moved to Texas, they were going to put him down as he was already pretty old and he couldn't make the trip. We brought him home. He lived to be 17 before cancer took him, but when he was about 13, we adopted Bear, a black and tan Shepherd mix pup.

Bear was awesome. He understood everything we said or spelled. He was welcome wherever we went because he was just so cool. We will never have another as cool as him if we searched the rest of our lives. When he was 13, we adopted a 3 year old rescue named Charlie.

Charlie was a nutcase, but the sweetest dog in the world. He had separation anxiety issues, severe and frequent seizures, but was the most loving dog you could ever hope to meet. When Bear died, Charlie sympathized, and gave us doggie hugs.

When Charlie was 5, we bought an AKC GSD, the only highly bred dog we've ever owned. Bud was beautiful, smart, and anxiety ridden. He was a worrier. If we were 5 minutes late getting home from work, he had already worked himself into a frenzy. Unfortunately his breeding came with defects...severe allergies, chronic ear infections, fistulas, and finally megacolon. We had to euthanize him at 8.

We adopted another rescue, Mosey. He looks like a small black lab at 55 pounds, but more refined in appearance. He looks like a Lab puppy, even though he is now 9. Shortly after we adopted Mosey, Charlie's lifelong seizures left him somewhat paralyzed and in pain. We had to let him go too. That was a hard year, losing two dogs in three months.

Mosey is 9, and in great health. But my brother-in-law just lost their 9 year old Lab to cancer. Mosey is a big part of the family. We take him to visit my parents, because he loves my dad (he spent the best part of a couple years at our house working on his car). He remembers everyone he has ever met, and whether he likes them or not. As stubborn and buttheaded as this dog is, he too has worked his way into my heart. When his time comes, the house will be quiet. Our kids are on the verge of moving out, so it will be too quiet. Mosey will join the other three in our backyard, under the old maple tree.
