but it's cold in our house
I can't imagine that a house in Louisiana is colder than one in Missouri unless you're running air conditioning.
We don't have heat on and it's 71F in here now.
A 75 watt bulb puts out a lot of heat. It doesn't need to heat the whole space, it just needs to create a warm spot. You can use a droplight and wrap the bulb in aluminum foil.

That's too far to drive... Bummer.

Don't beat yourself up, you did what you could.

I drive my birds 3 hours each way to our poultry lab at Mizzou.
You could put him in a box or crate on paper towels, drive to the vet and give them the soiled paper towels maybe? They will want as fresh a sample as possible.

When there, be very specific and tell them you want his poop checked for coccidia, worm eggs, bacteria and yeast.

Good plan.

gotta feed these turds  brbinabit

oh and happy st pats day   I need to look for some jokes then!

Or you can all find them for me! make me laugh! I need a few at the moment!  kid spilled his entire cup of milk not only on the table but on the wall and down behind the electric heater

Yesterday bubba spilled orange crush on a white satiny seat in DH's office. DH said "you spilled orange in my chair!!" Bubba said "that's my chair now." Five minutes later DH saw orange on the wall, same thing. "You spilled orange all over my wall!"

"That's my wall now."

And then I got in trouble for getting the giggles. :gig But how could I resist?

Good plan.

Have you thought about asking for their FedEx number and overnighting? The Turlock lab is only 90 minutes from here, and that's how I get mine to them. Last one I sent was a ten pound box and I think my shipping bill was only $20.

@Sally Sunshine - Day 4 update.

Pulled a couple out of curiosity and looked....

Couple of the EE and BBS Amerecauna showing veining. Didnt do them all but was curious. Will weigh and candle Sunday.

on no I see blood rings!!! you havent had temp spikes have you?

Plain low-fat yogurt, blueberries, tomatoes, scrambled eggs and mealworms. Hopefully its enough to help my little roo.
OMG Imma puke!!!

So I finally got a flashlight that was powerful enough to candle my darker eggs! YAY!

But, when I candled my dark shipped olive egger eggs, they all had horrible saddle air pockets!!!

Can they still hatch properly? I can see veins and movement.

Here's an example of 2 of them:

I think I already answered this!
My second seting conclution
12 where set 10 htched, 83.3% success.
2 had to be assist, one malpo. And one stocked in zipping.
All the another 8 htched alone.
2 egg, amaracaouna eggs didnt hatch in my opinion becous some hot
Spots in my incubator and becaous the are the smallest eggs in the seeting
So they have an high s/v ratio, something that make them more influenceable by themp.and humid.
I think that I need to change the fan position and to hatch more homogenous eggs!

And here they are!

The eggs were Aracaouna and BPR and not PPR as I have said in the beginning.
congrats benny!!! can you simply add a dimmer switch to the fan?

Well, I just added a bunch more eggs... 13 Salmon Favorelles, and 21 or so of my silkie eggs. Some of these are from the 5 month old buff silkie hen and a buff rooster( that hatched at the same time) who is stuck like glue to her. He even goes into the nest box when she is laying an egg. I was going to crack one open to test for fertility, but what's the fun in that? Since all 3 hens are currently laying eggs in the same box, I'm not sure whose is whose for most of them.

I took out the rest of the Trader joe eggs. They were all infertile. So, my easter HAL is down to 41 eggs. 10 trader Joe eggs removed and 9 of my silkie eggs.

I am going to pick up a dozen backyard mix eggs from a friend this weekend. The last batch of chicks I got from her I got an EE mix that lays army green eggs!

Can I say that I am totally addicted to hatching?
@Jessimom is that an update? I think you need to go up with us in the ALWAYS hatching department!!!

My chicken eggs are on day 22 and no pips. How long should I leave them?
Candle tap listen and follow the steps in the assisted hatching article below....

You may have had low temps if you didnt calibrate, or if you dont have a fan and ran too low of temps, or Too high humidity
