Get off my lawn
Well, I got my meds today for my sick birds. I think I may be too late for my boy though. I went to check on him this morning and he didn't want to open his eyes. By the time the meds got here (late afternoon) he had clear mucus coming up out of his mouth. I've got him on sugar water, the Albon, and grower crumble that I've mixed with water so it's soft and will help hydrate him should he eat it.
*fingers crossed*

So I FINALLY finished the brooder build! I poured every single irritation and annoyance I have with brooding chicks into it. At the very least, this will be easier on my back (which CANNOT cope with brooding another batch of chicks at floor level). It's 6x3 feet, and is on a sturdy folding table to bring it up to a height my back can bear. It has two big doors, goes together with carriage bolts, and is bolted to a plywood floor - it all comes apart when not in use. Still a little to go for set up (covering the MHP once the pillowcase is out of the dryer and putting in the feeder and waterer). The center divider is made of screen within a frame I built and is removable - I have some chicks coming in the mail next week, and will be about a week younger than the current group in my hatcher, so I'll have them separate at first. After I took this photo, I added the overhead netting (plastic hardware cloth bolted down to the top).
I have two pips now - and wouldn't you know, the first pip was at the wrong end!!! Argh!!!Well, I'll see how it does. Here's hoping it'll be fine on its own. It's still only day 19.![]()
I've gotta go to bed - more later, folks!!!
