Good morning :frow

10 of the 22 that looked good for lock down are out and several more coming. Nothing out of the 11 that are either early quitters or slower developing than the rest

I'd go with the Brinsea and medical therm for this hatch. You saw veining when you candled so you know you are in range.
yes I just think I may need to bring the temp up a little...didn't expect such good results as the eggs were gathered in cold weather.

Morning Phil!
Those infra reds are dependent on the range of the scale for accuracy.
I have several I use in my shop, one from 0-250, one from 0-500, and one like yours goes to 3000.
Unfortunately they are all way more accurate at the middle of their respective ranges.
I would trusted the one on the bator and the medical one at this point.
I use my 0-250 one to check the bator, and it is still a degree or two off compared to the others in the bator. I think the higher range has more variance at either end of the scale.

Hope you and the wife are doing well today :hugs

Yeah if the temps wetter that high they would have cooked....wife is good now.....she's getting her butt into the Dr's this week though.....

yes, they were late hatching. The first batch, I had them in a room the light was barely on. The second batch, it was on part of the time
It helps if the room the incubator is in is a bit warmer than the rest of the house so the little 40 watt heat element doesn't have to work so hard. A small closet is good.
You can make a frame around the incubator with cardboard creating a mini room that is about 6 inches are so larger than the incubator. Make sure you still have air that can go in the bottom holes and escape the top holes. Folding a towel over the windows while keeping the holes open helps a lot. The latter technique sometimes makes the temp go too high.

Hey guys this was under my broody is it a pip or a crack help

I tried to respond earlier but was unsuccessful.
If it is concave, it's not a pip. It's from pressure from the hen.
If it is convex, it's a pip.

Several things you can use to seal it. Best is liquid skin bandage. Also, nail polish and wax can work.

I guess you've "been there & done that) too.
At least with driving. I started in me early twenties in what back then was still largely a man's world. I just saw it aas a way to get rid of housing expenses and put away money. I took out a $2,500 personal loan to pay for the training so I would not owe a company. I worked hard, and in my first ten months paid off the loan and put away ten thousand. I should have stayed with it and not gone back to school. Oh well, you know what they say about hindsight
