What's the majority say about the red vent plugs on a styrofoam incubator? I've heard leave them out, one in and one out, in for 10 days then out, pretty much every possible combo of things you could do with the red plugs. Haha

If you will remember to take them out after 10 days than I'd go that route. If you're like me and would forget than don't use them at all.

if a power strip has to be used, use one with no switch or cover the switch in some way, you live you learn, we all have and still do, part of life

I have the heating pads for babies plugged into power strips when brooding, with switch easily knocked and turned off. I ended up actually TAPING the switch in the "on" position. Easy enough to do and nice insurance for a klutz like me.

I should be preparing to cook either quiche or the custard part of ice cream to use some of my way-too-many eggs, but I'm so pooped. Maybe later? (Riiiiiiight...)

Good afternoon/evening all. I had my first horribly packaged box of eggs. 2 were seriously cracked, 1 slightly cracked (i'll try to repair) and 5 intact eggs (I am not looking forward to candling these). The box was intact, but they wrapped each egg in a small piece of bubble warp, then a couple flat sheets of newspaper under and over, then several rolled sections of newspaper on top of that. They didn't mark the box fragile, or EGGS inside, or EVEN follow my instruction to write "hold at post office, call # xyz". They didn't send me a tracking number. I got the tracking number from the slip the mail person leaves in my box when they can't deliver a package. I picked the box the next day and found the cracked eggs. I sent a message to the seller (ebay), they responded IMMEDIATELY and said they would send more eggs. I was very impressed. I asked them to be a lot more generous with the bubble wrap,,.

I had paypal'd the money on Friday night, they shipped the eggs on Saturday and the hit my post office on Monday (I picked them up yesterday). If they do send more, I should get them on Friday. Let's hope they do pack them better.

it's funny, I just hatched 12 of 14 eggs that were shipped from Florida to CA. These eggs were coming a mere 250 miles or so.

Lost one of my RIR's to something not sure what, day or so later caught a possum in a hab trab, filled the water trough and drowned said possum,

for the builders in here I started working on my well house ( mama's ) order's ( if she ain't happy no one is)

well house is turning to a major project combo well house and tool shed,

I used my brothers on tie downs figured they'd be square ( not )
gotta make a Lowes run in the AM for a bigger hammer (sledge) to square it up

Pictures will come ( no laughing ) I use what I got on hand then buy what I need,

My neighbor's honored me by calling me a true red neck or hill billy

I had a huge disappointment last night. I'm borrowing a Brinsea from a neighbor to test and figure out why he's having problems with it. Plus I was curious about all the hype over brinsea brand. Well, when I candled last week, every egg in it was developing well. 24 ameraucanas. Last night, I went to plug my candler in to the power strip that the brinsea is plugged into and realized it wasn't working. Someone had bumped the switch on it and turned it off. I have no clue how long it's been off but I lost every egg that was in it. So upsetting

sounds practical go me, I've seen the price of lumber lately. Besides, I am going to use these pieces of slat wood I got tired of cutting for the fireplace as exterior wall boards for one of my coops. It sounds practical to me.

Have had peafowl since 2009 I think. Hatched my first ones in 2012.
