Quote: Cool. May I ask - what method did you use to put in the posts, such that you can pull them back up again? I'm assuming not concrete. (Just trying to learn.) One of these days I may end up with less temporary and more permanent enclosures... (Then again, we have so much rock here, maybe I should just stick to T-posts.)

You were so excited, you just couldn't help but talk about it before you got them, and then after you ordered them, and then when they were in transit, and then unboxing pics... at least enough so in the thousands of posts on this thread I remembered (a miracle in and of itself - I had to buy one of those Tile things since I can't find my keys most days). I am not hatching again until fall at the earliest, so I have to throw myself into vicarious enjoyment of everyone else's hatches.![]()
Here's hoping there rest make it to lock down. 20 is a decent number to get started with. What else do you keep, other than Barred Rocks?

Yup - Just came back in. I had to deconstruct my Coop of Sadness and my Frat House PVC Coop - the PVC coop was essentially PVC, hardware cloth and LOTS of zip ties. LOTS OF ZIP TIES. Like, it took me about 2 hours to cut them all.
Then chicken chores, then quality time with my littles, including little Joan Jett (I name my chickens like I have named my cats in the past - they remain unnamed until it is "revealed" to me). This funky little girl has a very messy, nearly black crest (she reminded me of Joan Jett, hence the name). She's been posing for her new album cover:
