So Steve Jobs didn't do a good job on you as he did on CC! Good for you!
I from choice don't have a smart phone because I see what it is doing to the young generation
And I want to show them another example, that you can be very updated even without smart phone!
I have one because internet service is not really available where I live except like Hughes, and I am gone too much for the cost. I also live alone and ride and train horses so I gave in to cell phones early under pressure from friends. I can see the value since no one would even know there was an issue until dispatch comes in in the morning and realizes that I did not come in to work.

I have never said that it isn't an important working tool, BUT it must, IMO stay as that! The minute it become the center of yours existence, you have lost the battle and you in a slippery road in wich you can find yourself waiting in a kew infront Microsoft, or what ever, shop to by somthing new that the only difference between it and the phone you have is some stupid something!

It is a tool, and not an overused one for me but since the days of cell phones started, I've used the phone book feature.

As an old electrician friend that was taking a class said while pointing to his head, "I've been an electrician a long time, I have a lot of stuff up here and before I let something new in, I have to let something else out.
I just don't commit things to memory if not used often and I know where to look them up.

And in the process you are degenerating a very important feature of your brain!
It isn't true that the brain has a capacity, it is virtually limitless in it capabilities!
But that ir true only if you practice and let your brain to do an effort! If you lrt the tip of your fingers and Google to the work for it, you are doomed!

Anyone else see the irony?

I understand that.
I never use calculators. I found that if you do, you lose that skill.
It's just that phone numbers seem a little useless to me when I need about 100+ of them.
I have way more things to focus on and learn every day. To learn all those numbers would detract from that endeavor.

Anyone ever see the Married With Children Episode "Kelly Knows Something"?

-Kathy

Bud Bundy: You have to understand, Kelly's brain can hold anything. But there are some things you have to know. One: that it's totally empty.
Al: Woudn't you know it.
Bud Bundy: And two: that you can't just shove information into her head. You have to be careful. Feed her information slowly, bit by bit, drop by drop, until she's full.
Al: Full?
Bud Bundy: Oh, yeah. Kelly's brain can actually get full with information. And then you got to be really careful. Because each new thought after that will totally replace an old one. That's why Kelly forgot to wear a blouse on the day she went to take her drivers ed exam.
