The speckled one is the mom, the babies (black ones) are half cayuga

Sounds like perfect timing. I had the great idea of setting the first week of each month starting this past jan. Went decent until I got 2 hatches in and realized the first batch wasn't quite ready to move out. Did I allow that to stop me?? Nope, found a work around by dividing my brooder. That worked until I decided to give my broody hen the growout coop that the chicks were supposed to move into for when the 3rd batch came along. Luckily temps had warmed up enough that they were able to go into the main coop.

Lol I wouldn't let it stop me either...& I didn't plan the timing on this one (but I should in the future haha!) I was just going over the calendar this morning and realized it. Now if you will come clean the brooders, that will make my Tuesday even better!!!

Good Morning!

I've never have had an issue of them just returning to their coop in the evening to roost.

I'm glad everyone is feeling better, I hope you get over the lingering cough soon. Spring is finally here, hopefully to stay. Keeping busy outside as much as I can.
I think Spring was one day last week here; as usual, we seem to have jumped from Winter right into Summer. Shorts & no shirt weather already.

Gonna have to pass on the brooders again. I did say maybe next time but this is still the same time lol. Will be heading your direction in about 2 months but they will be way overdue by then.

Maybe the hot weather will keep the grass from growing as much. Surprisingly we seem to be having a smooth transition this year. Ours is typically a short spring and then blazing hot. Barely hit the 80's so far.
