I was told that I could be a HORRID child, and more than once they took my very straight hair, and taped a curl in the middle of my forehead....they have photos....

Nice!    How many do you have set?

My pips aren't as clearly visible!, but I do have pips!!

I have 2 hatched, and 7 pips that I can see, 9 pips according to my father who says he has better glasses than I do.  Only the bantams are pipping and hatching so far.

I need to stay away from mine as well!

8 are in. Two looked iffy, but rest are good..... :fl

You don't NEED a sponge.  You just need a way to keep the humidity up.  But you are talking about the sponge
being added the last 3 days....you will need to take the egg turner out for lock down (the last 3 days).  So, there will be room for a sponge.

I now use a puppy pad under the rubber shelf liner I put in the bottom of the bator.

So do I take the egg turner out and leave the eggs on their sides? Do I turn them by hand? Or no turning the last three days just increase humidity and leave temp the same?

Are these shipped eggs, or your own eggs? Some people, if the air cells are detached or saddled from shipping, they will use a styrofoam egg carton with holes cut in the bottom for air flow, and hatch those upright. But I don't bother. I take out my turner, lay all the eggs down on their side, with the dip (lower) part of the air cell facing up. You do NOT TURN THEM. You bump up the humidity. Figure out a way to be able to add water without opening the incubator. There are suggestions on the first page of this thread, hatching 101. I use a medication syringe with an air hose from my fish tank bubbler, and I suck up water and then feed it through the ventilation hole.

The whole idea of lock down is that you do NOT open the incubator. For any reason. If you absolutely have to open it Be ready to put in a warm, wet washcloth or sponge in. Something that will bump the humidity and heat up quickly.

Good luck!

@chicken hawk 33 How is the flooding clearing up? Did you get your run back? I agree that you need to toss all but one broody out of the nest boxes (or read up on broody busting). I am glad you did not have to move. It sounds like you have a whole way of life not just a house there.

I just keep finding more forums to chirp in! Lol how do you keep up with all these post. I love this site I think I'm here more than I'm on Facebook now. I did a quick check of my eggs lost an ayam cemani. But all 30 others I see movement even the "twin" egg is still hanging in there saddle and loose air cell and all.
