nope!

For those wondering, I have Baby in the refrigerator and hopefully the flies that got to her this morning didn't have time to lay eggs on her, or if they did they won't hatch because of the cold fridge. Husband is double-checking with Ghent to see if they do necropsies but I'm not holding my breath. If not we'll be burying her, he wants her put to rest.
If there were flies on it, eggs were laid.
I lost about 60 birds once during hot summer weather. By morning flies had done what flies do.

...

wow, i didnt see that coming, sorry to hear about that

It was a shock to me each morning as well.
Looking back, I can't believe I was so insensitive. I still feel bad about it.

I'm not so sure about easy lol I've been googling their care and it's a little more complicated then I was hoping for - especially the part where it say to house them in groups of 3 or more because they're social...& then they also can become cannibalistic...they molt & are supposed to be separated from everyone and everything then...& then they need shells to move into, a specific diet...treats...fresh water AND separate salt water that's at a particular ph level...Yeahhhh.

Lol want a hermit crab @mlm Mike ??

Pesonally, I can't stand intertidal hermit crabs. I have tons of hermits in my saltwater tanks, and they eat leftover fish food... and snails... and each other... and anything they can get their claws on. Fortunately, I haven't had a fish die in over 4 years, but they will eat a dead fish in a heartbeat. The good part is I don't have to tend to any of their needs, other than providing plenty of empty shells of various sizes for them to move into when they outgrow their current lodging. They don't necessarily have to be separated from the others when they molt. They simply need a place of refuge where they can hide until their new skin hardens... and a large enough shell close by that they can scoot into quickly. That's the conclusion of Hermit 101...

She follows people everywhere..... She doesn't act, well, chicken-y. I am sorta wondering if she is mentally handicapped or just incredibly people-oriented! She has no fear, hands coming from above don't scare her...She is trying to type right now. :lau
