Sure, Liz, I'll build you one; you buy the material & pick it up when it's done. That would be one expensive coop, I'm afraid.
maybe I'll see if i can get my hubby to duplicate yours, lol

Hubby ain't stupid; he knows diamonds would be cheaper over the long haul
we had a bear wipe out our coop on monday so, i want more chickens. The only ones to survive happened to be sleeping in my barn that night

Quote: This one certainly wouldn't survive a bear attack; plywood's way too thin, but bears haven't been a problem in this area as far as animals are concerned. They've taken the easy route & raid the dumpsters. The same design would work using heavier material, though. I'd be more concerned about predators if my coops weren't up off the ground. I remove the ramp when I lock everyone up for the night, and there's no other way a coon or anything in that size range could get a foot hold to work at chewing through or working the door open (I hope).

Oh NO!! :hugs You get bears that close up? I worried a bit as a kid in the being worried at our cabin when I had to go to the outhouse at night. Here in Missouri the population is very small.
Sorry for your loss and the terrible job related to it

WOW! Sorry the bear wiped on your coop.
me too, I was able to fix the damage but now the chickens won't go near it, and my ducks are missing. I also put up a 3 strand electric fence around the coop and duck house

the bear ripped the door off and pulled some of the boards loose

Yes, when I lived with my mom in town, maybe 3 miles away, we actually had a ear come into our house

Hello All,

Today is Day 20 of incubation for our duck eggs (mallard). Everything seems to be going well...thanks to all the help on this site! Today when I went to turn the eggs I noticed 1 of them was rocking. I candled it and I can see movement in the air pocket. This egg from day one looked a little different in color and size and now I'm not so sure it's a duck. Not sure what to do and certainly don't want to put the other eggs in jeopardy. I only have the one incubator. Has this ever happened to anyone? I'd appreciate any help someone can give me!!!
