Definitely leave the glass open for fresh air. We were just cautioning that you'll need hardware cloth. Inside or outside doesn't matter as long as you can still operate the window. Just put some trim on the edges of the hardware cloth so they can't pry at the edges.
Hawks and owls are observant and smart. If they find out where prey live, they can find a way in.
I use a little piece of flashing and fashion an awning over windows in buildings without a roof overhang to keep water out so I can leave the windows open.

Nothing like some Rory to get one fired up in the mornin' or any time.

If Whites is old as dirt, maybe I'm sand then.
Every woman loves a guitar player. It's ... Okay, too early for me to be trying to explain anything!
My old bedding turns to dirt pretty fast in the coops. I didn't say which dirt!

You can handle more than one at a time?

Morning Dax

Because it's 110V and AC current it doesn't matter which wire goes to hot.

That's not always the case with AC, depending on what you're wiring. AC will always work regardless of what end is connected to what but not always safe or proper.
Since it is a heat element in an incubator, it really doesn't matter.

Normally white should end up at the neutral bar in the breaker panel. Black should be connected to hot. That way, if they get disconnected you know which is hot. There are other reasons.

Understood. Thanks again.

If it was inside it would make opening and shutting the window a giant pain, but I did consider putting it on the inside putting a board in the middle and hinging the side I have to be able to reach through.
