Non-heat-resistant chicken = dead chicken. I have some limitations in what I can keep, in the end...

Is anyone here familiar with the "Where the He** is Matt" videos?

They make me feel good about people.

I often wonder if the people from Iraq and Syria in the video are still alive, or likely refugees somewhere.

I adore these - don't laugh at me, but they actually bring me to tears. I actually bought the song that's the soundtrack for the 2008 video (Praan) and made it my ring tone. With all the crazy crazy crazy everywhere, these videos really do make me believe that we (as humans) might actually be ok in the end. Maybe.

Penedesencas are very heat tolerant too as are most Mediterranean breeds. Chanteclers, Orloffs, and most American breeds would suffer there. As they do here in summer. My birds have lots of shade but I lost a Welsummer to heat one particularly harsh and long summer.

No laughing here. They bring me to tears too. I like the way he doesn't care how goofy he seems in the early videos. I love the meaning of the Trip the Light lyrics.

Pot pie was a big hit in our house. I just had a big bowl of my oxtail stew.

was going to move mine upstairs to the spare bedroom, but someone pitched a fit :somad   "I don't want chicks upstairs in the house"  Telling her that there wouldn't be any chicks if I couldn't stabilize the humidity didn't change her mind.  I envy you guys & gals who have spouses who actually support your chicken activities.  :he

:hugs I'm sorry. You can keep them wherever you want here.
:hide How does a wife get the power to tell you what to do?

Good morning everybody.
If I could post memes. I would give MC the biggest best cup of jo to start her day.

Thank you!

Yeah, actually I looked very closely at Penedesencas because of that, but their reputation as independent birds swayed me away, only because I was a beginner at the time and it didn't seem like I had the chicken-keeping skills yet for that sort of chicken (I could probably do fine with them now, but am full up on chickens at the moment). The Cream Legbars have actually done very well in the heat - that's the Mediterranean bit showing. New Hampshires are supposed to do well as well. The ones I'll need to watch are the Marans. Fortunately I have a lot of shade for all of them, and I give them all little wading pools for their feet in summer (and dunk in ice or frozen water bottles) - it's a little extra effort, but they like it and it cools them off a lot. If I see one that looks like they are feeling hot, I pick them up and hold their feet in there. They recover quickly.
