How do u tell a roo from a hen
Depends what breed. Silkies are impossible (almost) until they crow or lay. Don't Ask me how I know! One clue is the males have streamers on the back of their head, but that is silkie specific...

How do u tell a roo from a hen
like I said looks like your on the right track. you can fix them but the can get stronger as they grow, looks like alot of them have nice air cells and just a few have bad saddles. the trouble I see is humidity, you will have to go with what the majority will need, that may do those really large air cell eggs in, unless you have another bator you can use? It looks like one seller sent you very nice fresh eggs, and those air cells are probably nice and in fairly good shape? or is it just the image?I am incubating blue and gold partridge brahmas, chocolate and molted/spangled orpingtons, dbl laced barnevelder (only 1 left out of 6) and 1 maline. I received eggs from 3 different sellers. I have incubated before but only about 4 times. I have ordered eggs on 3 of those and have yet to have a successful hatch on shipped eggs. I am determined to hatch shipped eggs but I have to admit it gets discouraging. I had a great hatch when I incubated my own eggs, nearly 100%. My incubator is a still air Styrofoam with an automatic egg turner. I have read through the Hatching 101 article, it is full of great information. The babies on my previous attempts with shipped eggs all made it to lockdown but then never hatched. They were moving and a shaking but then died before any pip occurred. I will include some pics with this message, it seems like all is going well but I've been here before...just hoping they hatch this time. You can see where the air cells are disfigured on some of the eggs. Thanks for reading, I appreciate all the advice I receive![]()

Sometimes you can't tell. Some breeds are sexable at birth, with other you just about have to wait 'til they lay an egg or crow! How do u tell a roo from a hen

Most of them are pretty good and yes they are from 1 seller. However some of the eggs from that seller have saddles as well. Where should I keep the humidity? It has been between 30 and 40% thus far.
I'm interested in building an incubator, but I can't find a good "pattern" that will hold 6-10 eggs and not have hard to find parts. Any ideas? I looked in the BYC incubator section but it was overwhelming to say the least. Thanks!
