HAL is one thing, contests are added as part but an optional addition for HAL joiners... for the hatch rate contests, you have to send pics of set eggs to ron and post pics of all hatched when done... hatches need to be done and posted by Jan 3rd...
Wait, you're not one of my grand kids, are you? They call me that!you are soo mean!! I'm lookin up that mama heating pad now and weakining like a.. a.... Hatching addict!![]()
OOOHHHHH!!! You're gonna have a blast candling those eggs! And you'll get some awesome eggs for your egg basket,2 weeks in tomorrow on my first try at using an incubator! Mamma chicken (mostly) hatched the last little fluff ball, but out of 14 she only had one successfully hatch, and that was after raking out her nest and me bring it in and putting it in the incubator... So this time I'm trying on my own. Set 9 eggs, so far all 9 are developing perfectlythey are from My White Leghorn and Easter Egger bred by my black Australorp rooster![]()
I may try that this spring, just for grins and giggles, but the eggs will come from a local health food store.Find the ones marked 'fertile'... seen good and bad hatch rates... they're a crap shoot, lol...
In my area, they are in the cooler with the regular eggs. You can even check to find when the shipments come in, to be sure to get the freshest eggs. Eggs from a commercial operation will have the Julian date stamped for the date they were packaged.Read the dates and they will say fertilized and aren't usually in the same spot as regular eggs. Good luck!!!!!

If they all hatch, you have a good shot at winning. Minimum or 6 eggs to enter. I think I got that part right! LOL!!!You have to win the hatch rate to win those pretty eggs??? Bummer I'm only gonna set a dozen.
