Its day 5. If I candle now, will I see the veins if the chicks are growing. Is it too soon? And does anybody know about candling duck eggs?

For the duck eggs, I would candle around day 10.When does the veining become obvious? Since they have a longer incubation, wouldn't it be longer before you can see them?

I use pine shavinsTime for me to change the bedding in my brooder now that the kiddos know their food. What are suggestions and experiences with different bedding in your brooder? Are their definite no-no's?
