@venymae I really hope your dad is okay. However sore he is feeling now it will be worse tomorrow, I hope he gets rest and goes to the Doc. Maybe just drive him there under the ruse of taking him home? Keeping him in my prayers and thoughts.

My Pops just got into a really bad accident tonight while coming to bring me the rest of my hatching eggs and do dinner for my birthday. The ambulance told him he should stay, but he left anyways to come have dinner. He's hurting pretty bad, & I honestly suspect he has a concussion. Hopefully mom makes him go to the doctor tomorrow. My hatching eggs were plastered all over his jeans. So I guess that's that. Please pray for my dad, he's not the best at following advice when it comes to taking care of himself.
love from us to your dad! On the bright side dad's seem to have pretty hard heads

try reminding him that he needs to go for your sake as much as his own, usually helps with mine.

On a totally unrelated subject my chicks that are due Saturday evening - three hatches so far! And one should be an olive Egger! Here's hoping she's a girl and grows up well!

So, 4 hatches so far... But I have a problem. I went to put the ones that are already hatched under the broody(so I could get some sleep

) who's last chick was killed by the other hen and she practically screamed and flew off the chicks. Now... I raised the chickens I have now from day old Chicks but that was in the spring and I was prepared (used a heat rock rather than a heat lamp, worked great! not so sure it will work in the winter). I don't have anything ready for these guys - was counting on my broody, now here it is 2 in the morning and I've found myself the unwitting mother of 4 chicks and counting with no setup.

...suggestions?

Egg update: the one that was half blood ring half veins completely died and I removed it. Since two were stolen I replaced them since staggered hatches are so much fun lol but I want as many babies from baby as I can get and set I only have one of her and only get two sometimes three eggs a week and she just started to lay for me so I'm working with what I have.
good luck with those staggered! you gotta do what you gotta do speney!

are you sayin you dont have a heat lamp? the need a 60 watt light bulb in the corner of a container or 40 to get it to 95 degrees until you can get something.. or a heat pad?
