Abdomen is swollen too? Is it dark or discolored?
Ok, thanks.... Actually only picked them up when neccesary, like health check or moving them. They are barnyard mixes... True mutts!
Calls are adorable, almost makes me want to get some ducks again..... Almost. 1 winter of frozen slush for a coop floor was enough!!!
(They went to the neighbor's pond)

About 2 weeks old. Poor thing just cries and cries and it breaks my heart! It kind of calms down when I hold it but it makes this clicky sound when when it breathes....only when I hold it. I dont hear it when it's in the brooder.

poping in to say. my eggs go into lockdown tomorrow. I'm excited for some chicks. Hopefully
To anyone that bothers to read this:
I had two hens with big bloody spots on their backs, put them into confinement together, the spots are both black now and they have moved back in with the rest of the chickens. We also have two younger chicks, broody raised, probably almost a month old now, one is DEFINENTLY a Roo, because he is much bigger than the other one, who just started to grow a comb, just barely, where his is already pretty big. They moved in two nights ago in a confined cage, let them and momma out today, chicks got pecked on a bit but are roosting on the tiny roosting bar! We have a slope with 3 bars on it, the upper two being large bars, the lowest one, which is about 4 inches off the ground, they are roosting on. Happy that the new coop is suitable for chicks too.![]()
xcOk ok, serious chicken question.

fOk. I'm sorry Sally. Imma leave now. I feel like I'm running you off of your thread. Please accept my apology.
hiI don't think Sally is here.
The ducks slosh water into the shavings.... Mixes with poo and freezes..... NOT blaming the ducks here, I do not have an appropriate water set up for the winter, I just use rubber bowls.
Calls are adorable!!! How many do you have?

Easy fix, don't put water in the coop... or put inside a larger pan...
Got 24 currently and 1 batch due Fri, and another batch due New Years...
