What have I done to my kiddos purdy birdies!!! I need to candle and see what is actually alive in this bator now.

All 6 AC eggs are growing!!!!!! Day 7 is friday........but I had to make sure! Oh on another note...... my little black chick is constantly crying!!!! It's the smallest and has a swollen gut.????!!!

About 2 weeks old. Poor thing just cries and cries and it breaks my heart! It kind of calms down when I hold it but it makes this clicky sound when when it breathes....only when I hold it. I dont hear it when it's in the brooder.
Ross, sounds like peritonitis or oomphalitis... essentially the same thing IMO. Personally, I'd cull. If antibiotics don't make a change in 24 hours, chick not likely to survive. I doubt if it will last 24 hours no matter what you do.

Do any of you buy egg cartons and sell eggs? I was just pricing egg cartons. I have way too many 18 packs of fresh eggs in my fridge.... Just been giving them away to friends
I ask my customers to recycle cartons for me. I've never had any one not willing to do that, and even folks who are not my customers save cartons for me. Yeah, if you sell eggs and buy cartons, be sure to mark your prices up accordingly.

My doc insisted on that flu shot yesterday and the lung one too, my arm is gettin big and hot. but why would it be doin it now? it was put in there yesterday afternoon!
Glad it's better this morning, Sally. Keep it moving. Helps the pain and swelling to go away faster. IMO, issues after a shot are normally worse 24 - 48 hours later. If you have issues like swelling and redness immediately, then... I'd be calling the doc!

do you really call it warsh......

.....Morning Sally
I used to go to school with a gal who'd warsh and wrench her hair every Friday night!

Question for the so called experts. Is a 60 degree draft free room alright to incubate in? It's actually the basement and it's one of the only places prying, touchy little one yr old hands don't go.
If you can keep steady temps there and humidity not too high, go for it. I wrap a blanket around my bator at night to help modulate temp changes. (keep the ventilation holes uncovered!)

I was on last evening trying to catch up when you were having puter issues ! Just checking in on mobile at work while there is a lull in the action have a good day everyone!

they will be fine on roost, you should have 2x4's sideways or 2x3s?

however this short toe is genetic, so dont breed that one. cause it can get shorter. I would notify the person you got the eggs from.
Yeah, the boy was going to be dinner some day anyway. The girls will go to the eventual "just layers" pen. When that's built at our permanent residence. Eventually. And the roost we have right now is some large branches from a downed tree.. About 3" around. But the permanent coop, who knows!
